Dear friends and colleagues,
We wish you all well. We are grateful for all the support we continue to receive. The funding process has been arduous. In the meantime, we have continued to mobilize different activities in El Cambalache’s moneyless interchange space and the Collective Store while strengthening our networks of mutual aid and decreasing our dependence on money. In a context of mass inflation for basic food stuffs, the recent floods and the violence that is worsening in the city, we want and need to continue organizing ourselves from our collective space El Cambalache! We see that it is urgent to continue making and promoting other solidarity and moneyless economies. We can see that this work is good for us, for the community that frequently comes to the space and for those who are interested in connecting with us from other geographies; seeking to resolve basic needs of care, a safe haven or inspiration.
We want to share with you that our recent pause in communication has been focused on redefining horizons. We want to continue making it possible for El Cambalache to continue working actively from the grassroots, making possible other economies for everyone, here where we are or in another space and we trust that there is not only one way or form to make it possible, that we will continue with the fundraising, and we will also reactivate our Online Workshops, which have been our pillar of self-management to sustain us collectively for two years, but after the threat of eviction, we agreed to focus on the fundraising and open the possibility of buying the house, and in this way, ensure the permanence of the project.
We need to continue to do our part to create other possible economies, outside of the patriarchal capitalist logic, and we only see that it will be in collective and in community. So we are happy to inform you that we will open a seminar, a space for reflection, which we will call «Our Collective Economies» which will be held in person at El Cambalache, weekly and will be transmitted via zoom. You are all invited! We are looking to create a local and international community and from there build new realities in harmony and respect with all living beings. We will also continue to share via our social networks and sometimes through updates, everything that is happening in El Cambalache and showing how in community we are abundant and prosperous when we share and inter-exchange.
In closing we reiterate our deepest thanks and share with you how we are doing with the funding on Gofundme; 148 donors and 10,861 USD raised, on Change; 738 signers and on Patreon; 13 backers. Querides amigues y compañeres,
Deseamos que se encuentren muy bien. Estamos agradecidas por todas las muestras de apoyo que seguimos recibiendo. El proceso de fondeo ha sido arduo, y mientras tanto, hemos seguido movilizando las distintas actividades en el espacio de inter-cambio sin dinero y de la Tiendita Colectiva de El Cambalache, fortaleciendo nuestra redes de apoyo mutuo y disminuyendo nuestra dependencia del dinero. En un contexto de aumento de precios de la canasta básica de alimentación, las recientes inundaciones y la violencia que se agudiza en la ciudad, ¡queremos y necesitamos seguir organizándonos desde nuestro espacio colectivo El Cambalache!. Vemos que es urgente seguir haciendo y promoviendo otras economías sin dinero y solidarias, que nos hacen bien a nosotras y a la comunidad que acude con frecuencia al espacio, y a quiénes se interesan en conocerlo desde otras geografías, buscando resolver necesidades básicas de cuidado, un refugio seguro o inspiración.
Queremos compartirles que nuestra pausa ha sido para redefinir horizontes, nuestra apuesta es seguir haciendo posible que El Cambalache siga funcionando activamente desde la base, haciendo posible otras economía para todes, aquí donde estamos o en otro espacio, y confiamos en que no hay un sólo modo o forma de hacerlo posible, con esto queremos decirles, que seguimos con el fondeo, y también reactivaremos nuestros Talleres en Línea, que desde hace dos años han sido nuestro pilar de autogestión para sostener-nos en colectivo, pero que tras la amenaza de desalojo, consensuamos enfocarnos en el fondeo y abrir la posibilidad de comprar la casa, y de ésta forma, asegurar la permanencia del proyecto.
Necesitamos seguir haciendo nuestra parte para crear otras economías posibles, fuera de la lógica capitalista patriarcal, y sólo vemos que será en colectivo y en comunidad. Por lo que nos alegra informarles que abriremos un seminario, espacio de reflexión, al que llamaremos «Nuestras Economías Colectivas» que se realizará de manera presencial en El Cambalache, semanalmente y se transmitirá vía zoom, ¡están todes invitades!, nuestra mirada está en hacer comunidad local e internacional y desde ahí crear nuevas realidades en armonía y respeto con todos los seres vivos. Además seguiremos compartiendo vía nuestra redes sociales y en ocasiones a través de actualizaciones, todo lo que está aconteciendo en El Cambalache y mostrando cómo en comunidad somos abundantes y prósperas cuando compartimos e inter-cambiamos.
